Ian
McCormack
You might be tempted to think of the scenario
of The Shock of Your Life as just fiction. However, we know of
someone who would appear to have actually experienced something of what
the book describes.
New Zealander Ian McCormack was diving for crayfish in the tropics when he was stung five times by one of the most deadly creatures on earth - the Box Jellyfish or 'sea wasp.' The resulting critical paralysis of his nervous system and severe delay in getting hospital treatment meant that Ian was eventually pronounced dead.
Not
a Christian at that point, he experienced something of the utter darkness
and despair of a place without God, as well as amazing visions of heaven
and a breathtaking encounter with Jesus himself. Like Dan in The Shock
of Your Life, it wasn't Ian's time yet, and he came back to life.
