Questions
about the shock of your life
(Back)
Hey,
this isn't an exam - and you don't need to answer everything!
Try to find a question
that helps you (or your group) to think and talk about the issues that concern
you.
These questions are designed
to help you think through some of the biggest issues in life surrounding the
central Big Question - what happens to us when we die?
Chapter 1: Horrified
- the Non-Christian
- What would happen
to you if you died today?
Has reading this chapter changed your view in any way?
- How did you feel as
you read about (a) the queue; (b) the books recording people’s lives, including
your life; (c) the lake of fire?
- How much did you know
about the gospel before you read this chapter?
Do you understand anything differently now?
- Do you think that
God is fair in sending people to hell?
- Do you think God was
unfair to punish his innocent Son?
- What would you now
want to tell people (a) in the church and (b) outside the church about the
reality of hell?
Chapter 2: Gutted -
the Lukewarm Christian
- Do you think you will
have anything of value to offer Jesus when you stand before him at his judgement
seat?
- How do you feel about
lapsed (failed) Christians being allowed into heaven, when decent people
go to hell?
- Have you decided to
live any differently since reading this chapter?
- How hard do you find
it to leave God to judge others and not worry about how they treat you?
- Is there someone you
would like to tell the gospel to as soon as possible?
- If God decides who
goes to heaven and who doesn’t, why do we have to tell people the gospel?
Chapter 3: Ecstatic
- the Red-Hot Christian
- Would you say that
you were looking forward to dying and being with Jesus?
- Do you find that people’s
opposition puts you off living openly for Jesus?
- Can you identify with
Emma when she talks about the grace of God changing the way she lived? And
with Andy when he talked about giving himself rules to keep away from temptation?
- If you had your time
over again, would you do anything differently?
- Do you think it’s
right to be motivated by the thought of rewards in heaven?
Chapter 4: Glorified
- the Christian in Heaven
- How did you imagine
heaven before reading this chapter? Has your view changed at all?
- Is there anyone from
the past or the present day that you are particularly looking forward to
meeting in heaven?
- What are you most
looking forward to leaving behind when you go to heaven?
- Which would you regard
more as the shock of your life – to go to hell, or to go to heaven?
